MelbourneAutoScene is a website I’ve been developing for Gary Swift for the past nine months. Launched in late 2009, MelbourneAutoScene is a free website, connecting car enthusiasts from across Melbourne.

The first release of www.melbourneautoscene.com has allowed visitors to view and create events on an events calendar on the website. After the initial website being launched for the 2009/2010 summer period last October, the new version I’m currently working on will bring more features and a new interface for the auto enthusiasts website.

So what’s included in the new update to MelbourneAutoScene? Let’s take a look…

A new sexy interface

MelbourneAutoScene has gone under the knife, and will be re-launched boasting a totally new look. Gone is the old black and red 1990′s look website, enter a web2.0 styled website, that is functional and sexy!

Calendar Event Pages

Calendar events on MelbourneAutoScene now have their own pages, and URL’s. Soon you’ll be able to share links to specific events to your friends on the web via e-mail, or post them to your Facebook wall for all your friends to see.

Google Maps™ Integration

From finding directions to an event, to cruise overviews, MelbourneAutoScene now has Google Maps™ displayed on a calendar events details page. Not to mention all the details you need to know.

User Accounts and event RSVP’s

Become a member of MelbourneAutoScene and you’ll have the ability to RSVP to calendar events. Once you’ve RSVP’d to an event, if that event changes or gets cancelled, you’ll be the first to know via an e-mail straight to your inbox.

A whole new world of photos

MelbourneAutoScene’s new photo section will feature various albums of photos for visitors to browse through. But if you don’t like browsing through photo albums, why not browse all of MelbourneAutoScene’s photos in style, thanks to the CoolIris integration, that will be available shortly after release.

Feature Cars

Last but not least is the feature cars addition to the website. From hot rides pimped up by locals on the streets, to the next big car to hit our shores, the Feature Cars section will quickly become one the frequently visited sections of the website.

Currently no release date has been set.
